10 Ways to keep organised in your personal life

1.       Keep to do lists

Whether you like a smart paper note book, trendy paperchase to do list booklet or an online task reminder like Trello… write things down. You are busy, life is busy and we forget things that really don’t excite us… our memory is fabulous, but sometimes it’s not worth relying on it.

 

2.       Tidy as you go

There is nothing worse than having hours of clutter and neglected paperwork, clothes, shopping etc to work through and put back in its rightful place. Keep on top of it, a few minutes here and there will get you through the dreaded tidying challenge.

 

3.       Recycle, donate or sell

I love shopping, in fact most women do. I know that’s a very generic statement but buying new items to make us feel good is a great feeling. However, the more we buy, the more we clutter. For every new item we add to our wardrobes, why don’t we try and get rid of others. We can give them to friends or family, donate them to charity, or hey, if they are worth something - put them on eBay. Every little helps.

 

4.       Shopping lists

Are you fed up of waste? You can have all the money in the World but there is nothing worse than throwing out food, or purchasing something you already have. It takes seconds to check a cupboard or drawer. So before you go shopping, whether that be food, stationery, household items… just quickly check you don’t already have that item sat sitting perfectly in your home. 5.       Passwords

A headache topic for just about everyone. Some websites require 2 special characters, 1 capital letter and numbers, others are just happy with a word. It’s good that we protect ourselves, but it can be so frustrating to remember absolutely everything… and whilst we are completely against writing it down, or saving it to a word or excel document, how can we expect our brain to remember 55 different password versions. 6.       Unsubscribe

Your personal email box has hit 2000, this actually makes me nervous. I sign up to the newsletter that has 10% discount on first orders… I mean who wouldn’t? Just remember to unsubscribe, especially if you have no interest of a daily email. When honestly will you sit and read them. Most emails now come with a hyperlink at the top that says ‘unsubscribe’ a click that takes less than a second and you are done. Keeping life manageable.

 

7.       Cleaning

I highly recommend getting a cleaner. We work to live at the end of the day and when it comes to weekends and evenings, who wants to be cleaning their own home. When for £10-£15 per hour, you can have your house spotless and enjoy your ‘otium’ so much more.

There are thousands of articles online and the legend Joe Wicks has really transformed our thinking on the meal prep and eating clean world. Firstly, everyone can improve their diet and when you’ve had a long day at work you really don’t want to be spending an hour cooking. Especially when you need to pop to a friends, or go to that spin class. The answer here to meal prep… by dedicating a maximum of two hours a week, you could have all your lunches and evening meals prepared, in the fridge or freezer. This keeps your diet good, saves you huge amounts of time and can actually save you money too. Winner.

 

9.       Organising drawers, wardrobes and cupboards

Marie Kondo is my idol. She is the Queen of organising and de-cluttering. By spending time going through each drawer or cupboard, you will have bags and bags of items that you no longer need, again - donate, recycle or sell. Of course, then take her hints and tips on folding and storing. You will create maximum space and minimal clutter. She has a series on Netflix if it interests you…
