7 ways to spend valentine’s in lockdown
If you’re anything like us, then you will have exhausted every idea under the sun when it comes to getting creative and thinking of things to do during lockdown.
We thought we’d share a few of our ideas on how to make your Valentine’s day extra special and keep the romance alive even though the current lockdown has us limited on the things we can do and places we can visit.
1. Wine and dine your partner with a homemade meal
We saw that the lovely Binky recently had this planned for her which was posted on Instagram and we thought - what a fabulous idea. Her fiancé told her to get ready and he would pick up at 7:30pm (obviously on foot from their bedroom) and took her downstairs for a beautifully cooked meal. HOW romantic! There was no hassle of booking taxis or babysitters required, and it really did look like something extra special to do for Valentine’s day. Plus getting dressed up and out of our comfy clothes is a treat right now.
2. Wrap up warm and go for a local walk with a champagne picnic
Obviously no further than 5 miles from your house, because it could turn out quite pricey for a picnic (if you get caught) … however, prepare a lovely picnic, chill a bottle of champagne, and pack some extra jumpers and head to a nice spot to embrace the outdoors and enjoy time with your loved one. As it’s February and the weather can be a little unpredictable our wonderful Lifestyle Concierge managers have checked in advance and can confirm that no snowfall is currently due around Valentine’s in the UK. So you are safe…
3. Plan a couple’s at-home spa day
If you have a hot tub – great, if you don’t you could order a Lay-z-spa… or you could head over to lush.com and order a valentine’s box of pampers for your bath (an option to suit everyone).
Start with a bath/hot tub/lay-z-spa, followed by a lovely hot-oil massage for you both, treat your skin to a facemask and finish off with some deliciously smelling moisturiser. Remember to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water, or something a little stronger and we can guarantee by the 15thFebruary you will be feeling like a new man/woman as well as spending a relaxing evening with your partner.
4. Dine in the comfort of your home with a tasty takeaway
Ok, this is similar to suggestion no.1, but instead of making a homemade meal why not support your incredible local pubs and restaurants that have had to pivot business recently with lockdown and are now offering a fantastic take away service.
We all have a great choice of eateries around us, most of which have had a really rough ride, so let’s do a little good by supporting them while enjoying the benefits.
Not to forget the pros! Less washing up, less stress, less prep / organising, saves time and your meal is less likely to go wrong.
5. Buy a Gin Making Set
These sets are great and will definitely add bit of fun to your day/evening. They are something a bit different for you and your partner to do together. Why not add a little friendly competitiveness by challenging one another to who can make the best tasting gin.
There are quite a few suppliers of these kind of kits: Etsy, Not on the High Street, Amazon, Oliver Bonas all sell them. Note– some require you to purchase the alcohol as an extra, so check the contents when ordering.
6. Feeling artistic? Why not get sketching… in the nude?
Ok this one is really ‘out there’ but if you pair this with our earlier suggestion of the champagne picnic during the day followed by this in the evening, this could be great fun and pretty hilarious. Actually, it will definitely add lots of laughter to your evening. All you need is to have a fantastic sense of humour (it is likely your other half has seen it all before, so don’t be shy) a sketch pad and some pencils - Hobbycraft have got a great range of artist pads and pencils.
7. Make your own home cinema
We have access to pretty much any film or documentary at our fingertips. Netflix, Amazon Prime and Sky movies have certainly been a positive during the pandemic at keeping us all entertained. Why not prepare your own home cinema? Grab yourself a load of tasty treats, some nice drinks, and get cosy with some blankets and cushions on the floor as well as decorate the room with fairy lights (you can use the ones from Christmas and save some ££). Turn the lights off, get cosy with one another and make your evening a romantic one.
We hope one of our ideas takes your fancy and helps make your lockdown Valentines a special one. This is just a little example of the inspiration we provide our clients with daily.
