7 ways to spend Mother's Day in lockdown
1. Champagne Breakfast in Bed
Get a nice bottle of Champagne, our top three are Dom Perignon, Veuve Clicquot or Laurent-Perrier and make your Mother a lovely pastry-based breakfast in bed with fresh fruit and a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice.
NOTE: Do not forget to do the washing up!
2. Family Picnic
Go out for a family picnic, obviously this suggestion is weather permitting… but if the weather is nice, fill up a picnic basket with all of your mum’s favourite tasty treats and sit on a picnic blanket and make some memories by spending quality time together.
3. Cook your mum a 3-course dinner
BBC Good Food is full of incredible recipes, which are easy and different. Be organised, buy the recipes in advance, and take your time to make it perfect for your special mum… don’t forget to dress the table beautifully and really blow her away.
4. Bake cakes or make pancakes with her
Spend the afternoon baking cakes and making delicious food with your Mum. You can spend hours having fun and creating your own bake off and of course, indulge afterwards.
5. Make her a handmade memory book
Get your craft scissors, pritt stick and print off photos from over the years that will create a life story for your mum and give her lots of giggles when looking at the golden oldies.
6. Make homemade afternoon tea
As afternoon tea is a popular choice for a Mother’s Day treat (pre-COVID-19) why not recreate this at home. Get out your best china, tea pots and make finger sandwiches, pastries, and cake to enjoy a lovely, tasty afternoon tea.
7. Plan a spa session for her
Get online and order some luxury bath and skincare products and create spa session with your Mum. You can do each other manicures and pedicures, facials, hair masks and finish off with a relaxing bath bomb from Lush Cosmetics to end your Mothering Sunday.
Have a wonderful Mothering Sunday.
